William Wesley Canada

Born June 8, 1850 in Stoney Creek Township, Randolph Co., Indiana

Died May 17, 1921 in Winchester, Indiana

William Wesley Canada, also known as William W. Canada, was from Winchester, Randolph County, Indiana.  He was the son of David Canada and Mary Anne (Moore) Canada.  He married Caroline Emily "Carrie" Moore on December 9, 1875.

In politics he was a Republican, a lawyer; served as chair of Randolph County Republican Party from 1890 to 1897; server as U.S. Consul in Vera Cruz, Mexico from 1897 to 1918.  During the Felix Diaz uprising in 1912, he was shot in the leg while riding a horse near the consulate.  He was a member of the Odd Fellows.  William died of heart disease in Winchester, Indiana on May 17, 1921.  He was 70 years, 343 days old.  He was buried in Fountain Park Cemetery.
