Major Robert Eugene Holdeman

Born October 30, 1931

Died November 25, 1967

Major Holdeman entered the U.S. Marines with the All-Weather Attack Squadron as a Bombardier/Navigator on an A-6-A Intruder Aircraft.  He was on a night mission near Haiphong, N. Vietnam, when he was shot down.  This was confirmed by a radio Peking Broadcast.  On November 25, 1967 his status was MIA.  In 1988 the Socialist Republic of Vietnam repatriated what they believed were the remains of US personnel during the war.  In June of 1997, after Holdeman's remains were identified by DNA, the minitary turned them over to the family so they could have closure with his death.  Holdeman was laid to rest in Fountain Park Cemetery in Section 17, Lot 129A.  Holdeman is listed on the Vietnam Wall in panel 30E, Line 85.  Major Holdeman was honored for making the ultimate sacrifice for his county during the annual Memorial Day service at Fountain Park Cemetery in 2021.
