Charles Beeson

1870-1934

William Beeson

1868-1929

Charles Beeson died leaving all his property to the City of Winchester.  His farm property was to be sued by the City for a park or recreation place for all the people.  His other property was made available for the use in the improvement and maintenance of said farm.  The City was given one year after his death to accept the property under the terms stated, the property was to be given to the Trustees of Fountain Park Cemetery.  Thus became the development of the Beeson Park Golf Course and the Beeson Clubhouse was constructed by the City.  The golf course originally had 9 holes.  Later the property was sold and the Beeson Clubhouse was given back to the City.  Eighteen more holes were developed on the adjoining property with a Clubhouse that contains a store and small restaurant.  It is now called the Winchester Golf Club.  Houses were constructed to the south and have become Willow Ridge.  The Beeson Clubhouse remains at the north end of the golf course and can be rented for events by contacting the City of Winchester.
